Gladys Myrl Spikes, 89, of Westlake, Louisiana, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 4PM until 9 PM and will continue on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in Merryville from 9 AM until the funeral service at 2 PM.  Funeral services will be held at the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church of Merryville on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2 PM with Elder Gerald Read, Bro. Wayne Kite and Bro Charlie Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Cannon Cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana.

Survivors include the following: Sons: Sherman and JoAnn Spikes of DeRidder, Louisiana and Norman D. and Mary Alice Spikes of Shirley, Arkansas; Daughter: Aline Crain of Westlake, Louisiana; Brother: Elmer Bennett of Sulphur, Louisiana; Sister: Louise Hanchey of Youngsville, Louisiana and Nell and John Cryer of Rosepine, Louisiana; Ten Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great Grandchildren, and Six Great Great Grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: Husband: Leonard Spikes; Brothers: Carl Bennett and Harold Bennett; Sisters: Leona Hennigan and Joyce Burge Brister
