Gerald Franklin Whittington

Gerald Franklin Whittington, 68, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, November 29, 2013 in Alexandria.    Gerald worked in forestry for 40 years.  He was caregiver for his wife and daughter. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Whittington of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Linda Lynette Coker and husband Douglas of Leesville, LA; Jeanette Hydle and husband Joey of LeBlanc, LA, Sondra Juanette Whittington of DeRidder, LA; brothers, Charles “Buck” Whittington and wife Phyllis of Des Allemands, LA and Gregory Whittington and wife Linda of Merryville, LA; sister, Betty Jean Harper and husband William of Sugartown, LA; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren, and dog, Peanut.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Ollie Whittington, and sister Bobbie Benfield.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Old Cypress Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.  Bro. Hardy Estes, Bro. Frank Hensley, and Bro. Sexton Vallery will officiate.
