Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Galilee Baptist Church in Evans, LA. Interment was held at Evans Cemetery in Evans, LA. Rev. Kenny Lowrey and Rev. George Jeane officiated the funeral service.

George Simmons, Sr. is survived by; Wife: Dorothy "Dot" Simmons of Evans, LA; two Sons: "G.G" George Simmons, Jr. and wife Kim of West Columbia, TX and Ron Simmons and wife Ann of Evans, LA; 8 Grandchildren; 6 Great Great Grandchildren; Sister: Mary Williams of Evans, LA; Brother: Frank Simmons, Jr. of Gulfport, MS.

Preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Wilma Simmons and one brother; Charles Steele Simmons, Sr.
