Gene H. Mayo, 79, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Janell Young Mayo of DeRidder, LA; son, Brent Mayo and Donna of Fernandina Beach, FL; daughter, Peggy Jantz and Shannon of DeRidder, LA; brothers, Johnny Mayo of Clarksville, FL, Wayne Mayo of Clarksville, FL; sisters, Avis Dykes of Clarksville, FL, Ellen Dawsey and Charles of Clarksville, FL, Helen Harvard & Steve of Lynnhaven, FL, Elaine Jerome and Mickey of Beloit, WI;  grandchildren, Matthew Jantz and Annie of Choudrant, LA, Brandon Jantz and Sarah of Dallas, TX, Kayley Jantz Dykes and James of DeRidder, LA, Kade Jantz of DeRidder, LA, Justin Mayo and Kimberly of Smyrna, GA, Joshua Mayo & fiance, Devin of Bossier City, LA; great grandchildren, Fynnlie, Emerson and Milly Jantz; great grandchildren on the way, Madelyn Ann Mayo, Jantz Ryan Dykes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thad and Annie Mayo; brothers, Herbert Mayo, R.L. Mayo, Franklin Mayo, Clifford Mayo; sister, Margaret Davis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will continue at 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2019 also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Bergen will officiate the service.  Pallbearers will be Matthew Jantz, Brandon Jantz, Kade Jantz, Joshua Mayo, Charles B. Harrington and Bert Mayo.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Kayley Jantz Dykes, Danny Smith, and Shannon Jantz. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
