Faxon Lea “Smittie” Smith Ross, 89, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. 

Faxon’s love for God and her family was number one in her life. She was born November 19, 1934, in Leesville, LA. She married Macle Lee Ross on November 8, 1953. They were married for fifty-five years and six months at the time of his death in 2009. Faxon is loved and will be missed by all who knew her. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Brent Allen Ross and Brenda of DeRidder, LA, Ricky Lee Ross and Becky of Houma, LA; grandson, Master Sergeant Joshua Ross, US Air Force; granddaughters, Misty Leigh Wallace and Chris, Mandie Sue Goble and Tony, Cyndel Renee Shephard and Jon, Heather Lynn Phillips; seven great granddaughters; three great grandson; one great-great grandson; brother, AJ Smith of Alexandria, LA; sister, Delores Rogers and Bill of Rosepine, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years and six months, Macle Lee Ross; son, Earl Wayne Ross; father, William O. Smith; mother, Dovie E. Hext; stepfather, Rev. Joe Hext; brothers, WD Smith, Alvin Smith, Michael Ray Smith; sisters, Audrey Bourque, Aubrey West, Dorothy Browning, Thelma Semons, Evon Lee, Dovie Curtis, Donna Faye Dowden.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Texas Avenue Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Brother Darryl Hoychick will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco, LA
