Rev. Ewell ‘Old Faithful’ Archield, husband, father, grandfather (Paw Paw), great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, neighbor, and pillar, was born on December 14, 1930, in Hutton, LA. He took his heavenly flight on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.


He graduated from Beauregard Parish Training School on May 26, 1950. In addition, he graduated from The United Theological Seminary & Bible College of Monroe, LA, with a Bachelors of Theology degree in May 1996. He was ordained in 1958 by the late Rev. K. E. Robinson and licensed to preach in 2003 by Rev. Daniel Stafford.


He was baptized at an early age at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. He was an active and dedicated member for 70+ years, an Associate Minister, and an assistant Sunday School Teacher for the Adult Male Class (#11). He was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Community Prayer Band.


He worked at Longbell Lumber Company for about 10 years. He then went to work at West Brothers in the warehouse and as a truck driver approximately 15 years. His final job was for Beauregard Parish School Board, which he retired from in 1997.


He was preceded in death by his parents: Leo & Thelma Archield; his sons: Kervin Archield & Howard Steele; his daughter: Debra Steele-Lockett; siblings: Leo, Donald Joe, Charles, Cecelia, Anna Rose Archield, Shirley Scott and Pam Chavis.


Cherishing his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 50+ years, Mary E. Archield; sons, Alfred Archield, Anthony (Teuwanda) Steele, Corwin (Wanda) Archield, Quincy (Gaile) Archield & Donovan Archield; daughters, Thelma Francisco, Sharon McLendon, Angela Archield, Cecely (Hosea) Buckley, & Dana Archield; siblings, Ruby Jean Jenkins, Hazel Spikes & Douglas L. (Lula) Archield; 29 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Daniel Stafford will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Community Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
