Evelyn Barrow Smith, 72, of Starks, LA, passed from this life on January 2, 2017 at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital in Sulphur, LA.


Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed sewing, dancing, family reunions, and her birds.  But most of all, she enjoyed her grandkids.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She will be truly missed by all who knew her.


Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Vernon Smith; son, Jimmy Gore and wife Sharon of Wheatfield, IN; daughters, Diane Renee’ Miller of DeQuincy, LA and Samantha Cryer and husband Jeremy of Singer, LA; brothers, Jerry Barrow of Starks, LA and Waylon Barrow of Buna, TX; sisters, Beatrice Rumby and husband William of Hemphill, TX, Delores Crabtree Franks of DeQuincy, LA, Linda Barrow of Orange, TX and Sandy Verdine also of Orange, TX; eight grandchildren, Trey Miller and wife Amber, Tyler Gore, Dalton Miller, Justice Brummett, Bryce Cryer, Jaycie Cryer, Nicole Gore, and Marshall Gore; one great grandchild, Grayson Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Bessie Barrow; brothers, Samuel Barrow and J.H. Barrow; sisters, Katherine Bickham and Alma Faye Barrow.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Gambrell Baptist Church in Fields, LA. Visitation will resume on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 9:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 10:00 AM, there at Gambrell Baptist Church.  Pallbearers will be Trey Miller, Tyler Gore, Dalton Miller, Justice Brummett, Bryce Cryer, and Anthony Beard; Honorary pallbearer, Jaycie Cryer.  Burial will follow at Barrow Cemetery in Fields, LA.
