Eugene Steven Whitehead “Frenchie”,78, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Eugene Steven Whitehead, was born in Simpson County, Mississippi to Miss Betty Ruth McGee. Eugene was raised by Bell Parker of Mississippi for many years. Eugene, later moved to DeRidder, Louisiana where he attended and graduated from George Washington Carver High School. While attending George Washington Carver High School, he was a member of the George Washington Carver marching band. After graduating from George Washington Carver High School in 1965, Eugene joined the United States Air Force. On March 20, 1965, Eugene married Jacqueline Freeman. Eugene enjoyed playing Dominos and listening to music.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Jacqueline Whitehead; three sons, Shawn (Dione) Whitehead of Waco, Texas, Dunston (Dietea) Holmes of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Delrico (Miranda) Bethea of Arizona; two daughters, Shantesa Archie of Killeen, Texas, LaSheena Freeman of Louisiana; one Godson, Bryce McNair; twelve grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Dr. Keith W. Stevenson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Earl Colton, Jr., Brandon Parrot, William Gillard, Sr., Lemar Thomas, Jarrod Iles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shawn Whitehead, Dunston Holmes, Delrico Bethea. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
