Ervin Leo Johnson

Ervin Leo Johnson of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away on November 19, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born on February 21, 1940, in Poplarville, MS to Walter and Olevia Johnson.

Leo served in the Army from 1963 to 1969 as an E5 Sergeant in the Hell on Wheels platoon. He served in the Reserves from 1969-1975. Leo was an expert in pistols and a sharpshooter in rifle and M-14. He also received the good conduct medal. Leo then spent the rest of his career in the timber business from 1975-2016. He married his wife, Margaret, in 1960 and had 3 children, Shelia, Connie and Richard. After 50 years of marriage, Margaret sadly passed away in 2011.

Leo will be greatly missed by his brother, Garfield Johnson and wife, Elaine; sister, Vernice Howard; 3 children, Shelia Wall, Connie Johnson and Richard Johnson and his wife, Jennifer; 11 grandchildren, Stacie Stokes, LaTasha Johnson, Caitlyn Johnson, Elesia Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Sydnee Corsentino, Kadron Johnson, Jay Corsentino, Maya Williams, Olivia Johnson and Parker Johnson and 10 great-grandchildren, DJ Johnson, Za'Kyah Johnson, Skyler Stokes, Zayonna Johnson, Michael Elamin, Jaycion Ester, MaKayla Stokes, Kalaysia Minion, Messiah Johnson and Kaiden Minion and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Leo is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Johnson; father, Walter Johnson; mother, Olevia Johnson; brothers, Prentis Woods, DV Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Venton Johnson, Otis Johnson and Ernie Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00 to 9:00pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Interment will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder. Pallbearers will be Keith Johnson, Dwayne Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Galen Johnson, Todd Kekko, DJ Johnson, Dustin Johnson and Skyler Stokes. Junior pallbearer will be Parker Johnson.
