Elder Jesse Hickman passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
He was born to James Alexander and Samantha Hickman on April 12, 1929, in Knight Community, LA. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Opal Craig Hickman.
Elder Hickman was educated in the Beauregard and Vernon Parish School Systems. He served in the United States Army for three years. He worked as a computer operator at Fort Polk for about ten years. He owned his own business in the pulpwood industry for twenty years. Jesse served as a board member of Knights Volunteer Fire Department from 1987 until his passing.
Elder Hickman accepted God into his life as a young adult. As a willing worker in the Kingdom of God, he became a Deacon, Minister, Sunday School Superintendent, District Sunday School Superintendent, Assistant Pastor and then Pastor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Naomi Craig of Knight Community, LA; niece, Vernie Silas and Gregory of DeRidder, LA; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Craig Hickman; daughter, Jo Veder Knight; parents, James Alexander and Samantha Hickman; brothers, Charlie, Daniel, David, Jack, John, Sam and Samuel Hickman; sisters, Carmen Brown, Ethel Turner, Ruth Simmons.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Interment will follow at Almadane Cemetery in Almadane, LA.
