Effion Brown, Sr.

Effion Brown, Sr., 97, our beloved husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on December 11, 2013.  Effion was born on November 16, 1916 to the late Plummer Brown and Elizabeth Briscoe Brown.   Effion grew up in Opelousas, LA.  Effion came to DeRidder, in 1952 as a laborer working for Long Bell Lumber Company, then working for Robert Scalfi until retirement. Effion leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Earma Brown; daughters, Shirley (Aluther) Brown of Dallas, TX, Dorothy Davis of DeRidder, LA; sons, Effion Brown, Jr, Albert Brown, and Talton (Loraine) Brown all of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Taywana Davis of DeRidder, LA; La Monica Davis of Dallas, TX, Nikita Davis of DeRidder, LA, Gerry Davis of Lake Charles, LA, India Banks of  Baton Rouge, LA, Montreal Knoxx of Baton Rouge, LA, Michelle Green of DeRidder, LA, Berticia Green of Lake Charles, LA, Melvin Brown, Kanishia Brown, and Aaron Brown all of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, KiAmber Davis, Jaden Atkins, Kaden Atkins all of DeRidder, LA, and Italia Banks and Jewel Banks, both of Baton Rouge, LA.  He was preceded in death by his son, Freddie Brown and one grandson, Effion Brown III.

Visitation and funeral services will be held December 21, 2013 at Anders Temple in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until 11:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.  Bishop King will officiate.
