Dwain "Cotton" Joseph Lebleu

“Cotton” Dwain Joseph LeBleu, 61, of DeRidder, LA, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 26, 2017 after losing his courageous battle to cancer.


Cotton was a retired Colonel from the United States Army after 30 years of service to his country.  He was the Port Commander for the U.S. Forces in Kuwait in 2004-2005.  He was an Instructor at the Leader Training Program at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk for the last 15 years.  During his time of service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other medals and honors. Cotton enjoyed serving his country, as well as bass fishing, golfing, and watching the LSU Tigers.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder.  Cotton was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.


Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherry Manuel LeBleu; sons, Corey LeBleu and wife Katalin of Kingwood, TX, Charles “Marty” Reed, Jr. of DeRidder, LA, Stephen Reed and fiancée Mary Kathryn Belvin of Plano, TX; daughter, Stephanie LeBleu and fiancé Jacob Welch of Austin, TX; mother, Gloria LeBleu of Denham Springs, LA; brother, Clarence “Nick” E. LeBleu of Leesburg, GA; sisters, Deborah L. Devall of Denham Springs, LA, and Inga L. Klein and husband Philip of Nederland, TX; two grandchildren, Zoltan “Zoli” LeBleu and Sofie LeBleu; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Joseph LeBleu.


Visitation and service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Visitation will be from 9:00AM-11:00AM at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. The graveside service will be at 12:00 noon at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.  In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in memory of Cotton to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Hospital for Children.
