Dorothy Mae Johnson Mayes, 84, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, November 6, 2020.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Andrew Mayes and Shelia of DeRidder, LA, Walter Mayes and Adrien of Baker, LA, Robert Mayes of Baton Rouge, LA, Timothy Mayes and Margretta of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Margarete Silas and Reginald of DeRidder, LA, Dorothea Palmer and Lether of Leesville, LA, Sheila Lavant of DeRidder, LA, Doris Faye Peters of DeRidder, LA, Bernadine Mayes of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Florita Johnson of Tacoma, WA, Catherine Hill and Richard of Moreauville, LA, Rosa Johnson of Marksville, LA, Cendy Carr of New Orleans, LA, Madeline Augustine and Patrick of Baton Rouge, LA, Eddie Lee Johnson and Chester of Louisville, KY, Beatrice Benjamin of Cottonport, LA, Amanda and Doug Williams of Houston, TX; thirty-six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and  great-great grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Cleveland Mayes, Sr., Elton Mayes, III; parents, Eddie and Julia Johnson; sisters, Lucille Augustine, Patricia Johnson, Louise Wilkinson, Grace Johnson, Julie Forbish.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Brother George Glass will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Veris Silas, Reginald Silas, Jr., Ray Peters, Jr., Antonio Mayes, Sr., Aston Mayes, Dominick Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cleveland Mayes, Jr., Brandon Johnson, Dantoin Johnson, Eric Mayes, Andrew Mayes, Jr., DeMarcus Mayes, Taquan Palmer. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
