She was born in Dayton, Texas on January 29, 1930 to Mitchell and Ida Bell Rowell. The Rowell Family moved to Merryville when Dorothy was a young girl. She and Melvin married in 1949 and eventually made their family home in Merryville.

Dorothy owned a beauty shop in Merryville for many years as well as Dorothy’s Florist and Gifts. She was also an amazing artist and left many beautiful paintings for her family to treasure. Mawmaw (as she was known by all) always loved to travel. After retiring, she traveled the country. She went on trips to Washington DC, The Bahamas, Nashville, and visited nearly every state. She even went on a trip of a lifetime to Jordan, Israel. Mawmaw always had a camera in her hand and has left thousands of photos of family memories.

She is survived by her children, David Williamson and wife Nell, Kitty Coody and husband Deryl, and Donna Clark and husband Rickey all of Merryville; Grandchildren Angela Bryant and husband Jason of Vidor, Texas; Amanda Elliott and husband Steve, John Coody and wife Trecia, Bart Coody and wife Heather, Joshua Terrell and wife Crystal, Brandy Thompson and husband Tony, and Rickey Lynn Clark and wife Anna all of Merryville; sister Johnnie B. Newberry of Liberty, Texas; and long-time companion Max Fontenot of Sulphur. Dorothy was also blessed with 22 great grandchildren.

The family is exceedingly grateful to her granddaughter-in-law, Anna Clark, for the love and care she provided in helping Mawmaw reach her heavenly home.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Williamson, parents Ida Bell Daniels Rowell and Mitchell Rowell, son Tommy Williamson, grandson Michael Coody, granddaughter Angel Clark, great grandchild Baby Clark, and sisters Clara Bass, Sally Baker, and Emily (Tiny) Beard.
