David Paul Johnson

January 20, 1968 — January 28, 2025

DERIDDER, LA

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of David Paul Johnson, who left us on January 28, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on January 20, 1968, in Oakdale, LA, David spent most of his life in DeRidder, bringing laughter and joy to everyone around him.

Known as the family jokester, David had a knack for turning ordinary moments into uproarious memories. Whether it was his witty one-liners or hilarious antics, he was always the life of the party. But it wasn't just his humor that made him special; he had a passion for cooking that was legendary in the family. His gravies were nothing short of a culinary masterpiece, and family gatherings wouldn't be the same without his signature dishes.

David was a dedicated family man, and his love for his children knew no bounds. He was their biggest fan and supporter, always encouraging them to chase their dreams. When he wasn't cooking up a storm or cracking jokes, you could find him cheering on his favorite teams: the Dallas Cowboys, LSU, and the Oregon Ducks. He also loved spending time fishing, chilling out while watching WWE-especially his favorite, Stone Cold Steve Austin-and rocking out to Metallica. David was also a huge fan of the Andy Griffith show and had probably seen every episode 100 times.

David will be missed dearly by his family and friends, who will carry on his legacy of laughter, love, and great food.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jordan Johnson and Lori of Sevierville, TN, Jonathan Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, both of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Tiffany Weiss and Kyle of Monroe, LA; brothers, Eddie Johnson and Celisa of Bedford, TX, Gary Johnson and Shari of Pineville, LA; step sister, Christy Landry-Sasser and Will of Horn Lake, MS; grandchildren, Elianna Beverly and Sawyer Lane and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Ed L. Johnson; mother, Beverly Mixon; stepdad, Larry Mixon; uncles, Harry Davis, Willie "W.L." Johnson and wife, Susan Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Ellis Ray Keene; grandmothers, Myrtle Day and Eday Johnson; grandfathers, Buck Johnson and Eugene Davis; cousin, Nicky Johnson.
