Clarence Mayes, Jr.

Clarence Mayes, Jr., 86, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-four years, Christine Mayes of DeRidder, LA; sons, Larry Mayes and Juanita, Kent Mayes, Brian Mayes, all of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Brenda Fondel and Donald of Lake Charles, LA, Cassandra Gillard and Frederick of Valdosta, GA; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Maurice Mayes; daughter, Cynthia Mayes; grandchildren, Tiffany Gillard, Frederick Gillard; parents, Clarence, Sr. and Evelina Mayes; sister, Annie Mae Piper.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Ronald Jarden will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Larry Mayes, Jr., Donald Fondel II, David Fondel, Duwayne Lucas, Kendall Downs, Sam Lucas, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Mayes, Kent Mayes, Brian Mayes, Alphonso Piper, Rufus Piper, Jr., John Wells. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
