Mrs. Cheryl Rose Patten Smith, 57, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on January 12, 1954 in Orange, Texas. While in school, Cheryl enjoyed playing basketball and showing horses. She graduated from Little Cypress Mauriceville High School in 1973. She was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She loved animals and spending time with her grandchildren. She blessed the lives of many friends and will be missed.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Clarence “JB” Smith of Fields; son, William Hobson Barnes and wife Carie of Sulphur; three granddaughters: Bianca Rose, Gabrielle Joy and Isabel Reese Barnes. Survivors also include: Brother, Steve Phillips and wife Leann of Vinton; Sister, Patricia Patten Brister and husband Harold of Orange, TX; Brother, Mark W. Patten and wife Tracy of Bridge City, TX; Sister, Sharon Kay Williams Fletcher of Arlington, TX; and Brother, Gerald Williams and wife Angela of Simpson.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will lovingly remember her as “Shedoo.”
Visitation will begin 5:00 pm, Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Fields, LA and continue until service time. Funeral services will be, Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Brushy Creek Baptist Church. The Reverends, Rod Martin and Jimmy Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, LA.
