Carl Self

Carl Self, 82, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

Carl loved his family dearly. He also loved singing and playing music. He was a longtime member of the Medicare Band. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Mary V. “Ginger” Self; daughters, Veronica Flippo and Donny of Beaumont, TX, Carla Duke and Roy of Nashville, TN; sisters, Lanee Osborne of Houston, TX, Faye Hickman of Natchitoches, LA, Carline Horton of Anacoco, LA, Wanda Belgard of Alexandria, LA; grandchildren, Bradley Flippo and Magan, Britney Flippo, Breanna Flippo, Mia Duke, Ava Duke; great grandchildren, Micah Flippo, Levi Flippo, Ethan Flippo, Vann Candelaria and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Effie Self; brothers, Quinton Self, Hersel Self, Daniel Self, Odell Self, Elton Self.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Roy Duke, Pastor Donny Flippo, Pastor Phillip J. Davidson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Bradley Flippo, Ray Horton, David Kasprzak, David Hickman, Will Self, Chuck Farris. Honorary Pallbearer will be Lindsey Dunham. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, LA.
