Billy Wayne Stark, 76, passed from this life on Saturday, April 11, 2009. He was born in Merryville, Louisiana and was known for playing basketball and holding state track records. He worked in the sawmills around Merryville as a young man before joining the United States Air Force where he was a member of the Knights of the Blue Nose. He served in the Korean War and received the National Defense Medal and the Medal of Good Conduct. After graduating from McNeese State University, he lived in Sulphur, Louisiana for many years and retired from Vista VCM in 1994.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Billy Wayne Stark II and his wife, Peggy, of Sulphur, Louisiana; Janet Lynn Sonnier and her husband, Jimmy, of DeRidder, Louisiana; Becky Haraminac and her husband, Joe, of Singer, Louisiana; his sister: Jeanienne Wildblood and her husband, Buddy, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Visitaion will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home from 4 PM until 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home at 10 AM with Bro. Wayne Kite officiating. Burial will be held at Quick Sand Cemetery in Bon Wier, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.
