Mrs. Billie Charlene Perkins Miller, 93, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2020.


Charlene was a loving, dedicated mother and wife.  She was a longtime member of the Texas Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught VBS, Sunday School and participated in missionary and charity work.  Charlene was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and drove the “Bookmobile”. “Granny Millie”, as she was known at the Beauregard Parish Library was a favorite among the kids who visited there. She loved singing in the choir, sewing, crocheting and painting. A true example of God’s Love, she was kind, considerate, loving and generous.


Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Everett Norman Miller of Rosepine, LA; daughters, Linda Dugas of Mansura, LA, Martha Marie Stracener and Shannon of Rosepine, LA; brother, Raymond H. Perkins and Glenda of Rosepine, LA; sister, Garnita Perkins of Denham Springs, LA; grandchildren, Victorya Dugas and Jordan Stracener; great grandchildren, Katie Rohm and Colby Mayeux; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Luther Addison Miller; parents, Reason and Verna Perkins; brothers, Samuel and Kenneth Perkins; sister, Hilda Perkins; grandsons, William Wilson and Aaron Stracener.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will continue Wednesday March 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.  Brother Steve Thomas will officiate the service.  Pallbearers will be Eddie Perkins, Mike Henry, Greg Blackmon, Colby Mayeux, Charles Nichols and Laverne Perkins.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Perkins, Keith Nichols, Carla Henry, Laura Blackmon and Wes Hill. Burial will follow at Hinson Cemetery in Knight Community, LA.
