Betty Lee Frusha Galloway

d. June 29, 2023

Betty Lee Frusha Galloway, 89, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

Betty Galloway, more often known as “Mama” or “Granny” had many talents. Included in these talents was an extraordinary ability to sew and embroider. This sewing and embroidery were displayed on bedspreads, curtains, and much to their dismay, her children’s clothing. Sewing most of her girl’s clothes made for a matching quartet of little dresses. Thought cute by many, not so much for the girls. If you know the Galloway girls, you’ll understand.

Betty was an outdoor enthusiast and had many other hobbies including sharing her green thumb and camping at Toledo Bend. She liked playing cards and liked to listen to Cajun music. Betty also like nurturing the hummingbirds in her backyard with a little extra sugar. Betty and her husband, MC were catalyst to a family that loves water, hunting, fishing and even a good game of HORSE in basketball. Betty loved it all, even mastering the ability to make toast on a skillet over an old Coleman propane cooker.

But most of all Betty loved her family. She kept thousands of photographs cataloged by year, some displayed in her living room like art. These photographs captured a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Malvern Galloway and Renee of Merryville, LA; daughters, Jenny Shuff of DeRidder, LA, Debbie Beard of Merryville, LA, Rosa Ramsey and Dale of Merryville, LA; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Malvern C. Galloway; parents, Leon and Dorothy Frusha; daughter, Barbara Galloway Rico; grandsons, Derek Galloway, Cody Galloway; brothers, John Frusha, Jimmy Frusha; sisters, Jesse Jones, Nancy Moreau, Jean Myers, Polly Longoria, Edna Frusha.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in Deridder, LA. Pastor Jason Fortenberry will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joe Stark, James Stark, Lee Shuff, Paul Galloway, John Lewis, Josh Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Jodi Galloway, Lacy Rico, LeAnn Beard. Burial will follow at Hennigan Cemetery in Merryville, LA.
