Bessie Lea Jarrell Jeane

Bessie Lea Jarrell Jeane of Evans, Louisiana was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the age of 81.

Bessie Lea was the heart of the family business and the driving force behind Jeane Farms.  She and her husband, Claude were married for 58 years. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association as well as the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association. She and her husband Claude were the first members inducted into the Hall of Fame. Bessie Lea loved her family.  She adored her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She chose to live a very modest lifestyle. Bessie Lea held close the things she considered dear.  It warmed her heart to see her home full of children, her pond full of fish, race horses in the barn and mares in the pasture.  She enjoyed drinking coffee with her boys and devoted husband after a hard day’s work, but most of all she enjoyed bouncing her babies on her knee, stealing their sugar. Bessie Lea was a member of Evans Congregational Methodist Church, where she supported her husband in all his endeavors.

Bessie Lea is survived by her sons Randle Jeane and wife Tracy, Scott Jeane and wife Tamaris and Sam Jeane; daughters, Teresa Burgess and husband C.A. and Marilyn Smith and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Randy Jeane, Darrell Jeane, Emily Jeane, Scotty Jeane, Madison Jeane, Preston Jeane, Cody Bordelon, Chester Burgess, Gregory Loftin, McKenna Loftin, Ashlynn Smith, Jake Smith; great-grandchildren, Isabella Jeane, Matilda Jeane, Reese Jeane, Griffin Jeane, Warren Jeane, Sawyer Jeane, Logan Bordelon, Lucas Bordelon, Ryan Bordelon, Marcus Bordelon, Gauge Bordelon, Sophia Loftin, Nolen Loftin, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Claude Jeane; son, Jerry Lynn Jeane; grandson, Bobby Bordelon; sisters, Daisy Pierce and Lucille Jeane; brothers, Ardon Jarrell and Wayne Jarrell.

Visitation was held Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Evans Congregational Methodist Church in Evans, LA.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 also at the church.  Burial will follow in Evans Cemetery, in Evans, Louisiana.
