Bernadette Missik Kascak

Bernadette Kascak, 77, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on June 25, 2023 while bravely battling cancer.

Bernadette was born September 17, 1945 to Veronica and John Missik in Youngstown, Ohio. Youngstown was where she grew up and would later graduate from Chaney High School. Shortly after she met and married the love of her life, Joseph S Kascak, Jr. Together they built a life and family and had three children. Later relocating as a family to Louisiana.

Bernadette immediately lit up any room she entered. She was a joyful presence with her beautiful smile. She loved her family and friends and most of all God. She enjoyed music and concerts, an occasional trip to the casino, gardening, flea markets, and spending time with family and grandkids.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Kascak, her parents John and Veronica Missik, one brother Charles “Chip” Missik, three sisters Evelyn Roth, Andrea Anderson, and Laurie Missik.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother John Missik (Christine) and her sister Joan Updegraff (David), three children, Lori Kascak (Bret) of Longville, LA, Sherry Scoville (Kendall) of Moss Bluff, LA, and Shawn Kascak (Erin) of Houston, TX. Her grandchildren, Garret, Chloe, and Kaleb. And her “extra” Parker. One soon to be great grandchild Sylas. Many cousins, family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Father Joshua Page will officiate the service.
