Bennie Joseph “B.J.” Fazio, Jr., 75, of DeRidder, LA, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, surrounded by family.

B.J. is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen Crooks Fazio; three sons, Mark and Kris Fazio of Tampa, FL, Todd and Sheila Fazio of Rosepine, LA and Bart and Amy Fazio of Rosepine, LA; seven grandchildren, Trent Fazio of Philadelphia, PA, Grant Fazio of Orlando, FL, Tate and Macy Fazio of Rosepine, LA and Luca, Lilah and Lia Fazio of Rosepine, LA; paternal aunt, Joan Mahfouz of Alexandria, LA; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

B.J. was born and raised in Alexandria, LA. He attended Menard Memorial High School and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He began his professional career in data processing with Pan American Petroleum in Tulsa, OK. After working with Pollock Paper Company in Dallas, TX, B.J. began a long career with Boise Southern in DeRidder. He ended his professional career in data processing with Amerisafe in DeRidder, LA. B.J. then served as a reserve deputy for a number of years with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Department. B. J. was an avid outdoorsman. He played slow pitch softball and coached little league baseball. He enjoyed long distant hiking, bicycling and motorcycling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Joseph Fazio, Sr. and Josephine Nasella Fazio of Alexandria, LA.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Service immediately following at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA. Interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pineville, Louisiana. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Education Fund, or the charity of your choice.
