Austin Lee Hebert, 84, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in DeRidder, LA.  “PaPa Bear” was a dedicated Christian, husband, father and grandfather.  He was proud to be Cajun and was very hardworking and served in the Army during WWII.  He was an avid horseman and cattleman in his younger years.  Austin was a member of First Baptist Church in Merryville, LA.


Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Austin L. Hebert, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA,  and Carlton Wayne Hebert of Merryville, LA; daughters, Janet Lee Hebert Pitre and husband Craig of Merryville, LA, and Debra Ann Hebert of Moss Bluff, LA; brother, Thomas Wallace Hebert of Spring, TX; sister, Barbara Ann Bolton of DeRidder, LA; sister-in-law, Janice Chance of Westlake, LA; grandchildren, Jamie Lee Schiro, Joshua Lee Hebert, Simone Nikol Hebert, Jennifer Ann Pitre and fiance’ Cory Leger, Mallory Wise Mitchell and husband Wesley, Mary Catherine Pitre and Emily Kay Hebert; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Hebert; father, Lucien Hebert; mother, Helen Doucet Prudhomme; and brother, John Carlton Hebert.


Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm and Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 9:00am until 2:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral services will be Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Merryville Cemetery in Merryville, LA.  Bro. Wayne Squyres will officiate.  Charitable donations may be made to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital.
