Arlene Ruth Thomas Cooley, 91, of DeRidder, LA, went to be with her Lord, Monday, August 29th, 2023, passing peacefully in her sleep.


Arlene was a member of New Life Baptist Church. She and TJ owned and operated Cooley’s Drive Inn until they retired. Arlene was a member of the Beauregard parish Cowbells and served as Pink Lady for Beauregard memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of Magnolia Home Demonstration. Arlene was named Woman of the Year by her Phi Xi Beta Mu sisters and served as president for two years. She loved God, her family, her beautiful flowers and her country.


Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Tommy(Pud) Cooley of Slagle, LA; daughter, Sherry(Russell) Cooley Johnston of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Will(Erin) Cooley, Nikki(John Paul) Galloway; great grandchildren, Lydia and Henry Cooley, Lincoln and Maverick Galloway and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, TJ Cooley; grandson, Ty Cooley; parents, James and Lucille Thomas; sister, Anita Thomas Singleton.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will continue Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Brother Keith Manuel will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow at Old Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Life Baptist Church Fund or CCIA.
