Ardis Glynn Alston, 82, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, December 26, 2020.


Ardis was the manager of Corporate Assets and Insurance at West Brothers for twenty years; he was also secretary of the company. He was owner and operator of the convenience store “Uncle Binks” for eighteen years. Ardis was an avid antelope hunter, he loved fishing and watching LSU games with his kids. AGA was known to be a “first class dresser” always wearing his monogrammed shirts and cuff links. During his twenty-year tenure at Grace Church, he was appointed to be an esteemed Elder to help everyone that was in need. In his later years, he returned to his home church, First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder. He spent over fifty years of his life at this church. He was a trustee board member, Sunday School Secretary, a major supporter of the Ministerial staff, the youth and especially the youth directors. Ardis had many passions, but most of all he treasured being a grandfather to his wonderful granddaughter, Isabella Grace, whom he loved dearly.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Elaine Evans Alston of DeRidder, LA; son, Scott Alston and R’let of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Shari Alston Cooley and Kevin of Lake Charles, LA; granddaughter, Isabella Grace Cooley of Lake Charles, LA; a host of other family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his son, Ardis Alston, Jr.; parents, Lafayette “Snookie” and Lucille Alston; sister, Edith Alston; fur baby, Colonel Beauregard Alston.


Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM at First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder, LA. Brother Zale Lewis will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Norman Ratzloff, Randy Brown, Kevin Reeves, Mark James, Glenn Ratzloff, Verle Schmidt. A private burial will follow.


The family requests that due to Covid-19, everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
