Anita Rae Miller Mitchell

Anita Rae Miller Mitchell, 65, of DeRidder, LA passed from this life on Thursday February 2, 2023 in Houston, TX.

Anita was born on July 3, 1957 in Jasper, TX. Anita stood by her husband for 45 years. Anita was a caring Air Force wife, mother of 3, and grandmother of 8. She loved her Lord and her family with all her heart and soul.

Anita worked compassionately as a LPN nurse for 28 years and volunteered for CASA. She was known as “Nene” to her grandchildren and all who knew her. Most importantly she shared God’s Word and will be remembered for her love for other people.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon Miller and Wilma Gilley Miller.

She was survived by husband, Robert Mitchell SR of DeRidder, LA; daughter Amanda O’Brien and husband Aaron of DeRidder, LA; son Robert Mitchell JR and fiancé Azeret Palacios of Houston, TX; son Jonathan Mitchell and wife Nika of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren Rylea O’Brien, Katherine O’Brien, Elizabeth Mitchell, Robert Watson, Jaycen Clayburn, Jackson Mitchell, Bryson Ross, and Kinsley Mitchell; mother-in-law N. Doris Mitchell of DeRidder, LA; sister-in-law Sharon Moore and husband Terry of DeRidder, LA; nephew Casey Bailey and wife Celina; and great niece Myia Bailey.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral service will be held Monday February 6,2023 at 10:00 AM also at Myers Colonia Funeral Home. Jay Alexander will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Anita’s name to Rui Diogo Mission fund at the Church of Christ at DeRidder P.O. Box 282 DeRidder, Louisiana, 70634.
