Aline Fountain

d. December 17, 2020

People only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Aline Fountain has rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings.

Aline was born the 6th of June 1929 in Rosebud, Texas to William and Lola Dowell. She was preceded in death by three brothers (James, Curtis, and Curmey) and one sister (Delia). Her father traveled the country with the rodeo and her mother passed away at a young age. The children then went to live at the State Orphan's Home in Corsicana, Texas. At the orphanage she learned about hard work and determination as she worked in the laundry. Despite a late start at the orphanage school, Aline persevered and graduated at the age of 20.

She met her future husband, Jack Fountain, and after a short courtship they were married on 31st of January 1952 in Houston, Texas. They remained married for 53 years until the passing of Jack in 2005. Not afraid of hard work, Aline would often help Jack in his brick laying business as well as being a homemaker.

In July of 1953 they had their first child, Elizabeth Aline (deceased) who married Haynes Funk. Elizabeth and Haynes had two daughters, Misty and Nancy. Aline loved phone calls to her girls, and looked forward to traveling to visit them in Arkansas. She also enjoyed visiting and spending time with Nancy's two sons, Tanner and Brayden Knatcal.

In December of 1954 they had their second child, Jerry Dean who married Charlotte Smith. Jerry and Charlotte had two sons, Jeremy and Zachary. Aline often worked at the Old Timey Orchard along side Jeremy and his wife Lori Loftin, and their son Aaron.

Aside from motherhood and hard work, Aline was a devout Christian after receiving the Holy Ghost in 1969. She became a bible scholar and regularly attended Bethel Grove Pentecostal Church along with being a regular visitor at many other local churches. She would often attend various community functions and she especially enjoyed crafting at Calvary Baptist Church. She also enjoyed visiting those who were sick in the community and the “old people”, even though many times they were younger than herself.

Aline was a strong and independent woman and always had a positive and cheerful disposition. She was fond of saying “That's nice baby!” no matter the circumstance. She kept this upbeat attitude until the end, as the nurses at Beauregard Memorial reported that she was smiling and joking with them until she passed peacefully on 17th December 2020.

Aline will be missed by all the lives she touched in her community.

Graveside funeral service will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Hinson Cemetery in Knight Community, LA. Brother Jerry Fountain will officiate the service.
