Agnes Margaret Benoit Young

Agnes Margaret Drastata Benoit Young, 95, was born February 25, 1930, and passed into eternal life March 7, 2025, in early morning hours. She was married to RC Benoit with whom she had 8 children until his death in 1962. She married MA Young of Dry Creek and had 1 child, Malley who preceded her in death.

She was known for her great sense of humor by her family and friends. She loved to be in the garden with her flowers, and enjoying planting flowers at St Jude church. She was actively involved in establishing St Jude church and she was also active in the opening and closing of St Jude thrift store. She strongly believed in supporting the local community. She was a teacher at East Beauregard for 20 years and worked at Beauregard Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady for a number of years.

She was a very devout Catholic and remained faithful to her last days. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be missed by all.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Roger Benoit and Ann of DeRidder, LA, Cynthia Jones and Rodney of Freeport, FL, Mary Voizin and Steve of Sulphur, LA, Kathy Sullivan of Estero, FL, Andy Benoit and Peggy of Ragley, LA, Robert Benoit, Jr. of Savannah, GA, Tammy Wilber and Shane of Dry Creek, LA; daughters-in- law, Myra Benoit, Debbie Benoit; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, RC Benoit and MA Young; sons, Roy Benoit and Pierre Benoit; granddaughter, Amber Borel; son-in-law, Barry Sullivan; parents, Charles and Rosie Drastata.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. The Rosary will be at 6:00 PM on Sunday. Visitation will continue at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM, also at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:10 PM, Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA. Reverend Jude Brunnert, MS and Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Andrew Benoit, Jr., Matthew Benoit, Caleb Voizin, Shawn Wilber, Chris Sullivan, Zack Wilber. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery in Welch, LA.
