Jean Antonio Griffin-Hubbard, 27, of DeRidder, Louisiana (formerly of Milwaukee, WI) passed from this life on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in DeRidder. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Rivers of Living Waters in Leesville, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Rivers of Living Water. Rev. Carl Clark will officiate. Other services and interment will follow in his hometown of Milwaukee.
Jean had lived in DeRidder for the past 7 years. He was an Army Beteran having served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 5/25 Field Artillery Unit of the 4th Brigade 10th Mountain Division. He was a 2002 graduate of Hamilton High School in Miilwaukee. He loved to ride his motorcycle and was a member of the Ruff Ryders Motorcycle Club.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Erica Griffin-Hubbard of DeRidder, LA; son, Shakove Huff of DeRidder, LA, daughters, Kam'Maya A. Mims-Hubbard, Shakiya K. Huff and Zakyra A. Smith all of DeRidder, LA; mother, Monica Hubbard; father, Joe L. Griffin both of Milwaukee, WI; brothers, Joseph B. Griffin-Hubbard, Joshua L. Harold Lelan Brice, 78, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will be held again on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Interment will follow at Cooper Cemetery in DeRidder.
Harold retired as 1st Sgt. from the US Army after 21 years of service. He saw 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked for 23 years as a body shop manager at CBG. Harold was an avid Motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of Chapter M, GWRRA, Mud Bugs and Slow Rollers among others. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and companion Scruffy. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his mother, Mable Carter of Sikeston, MO; wife of 57 years, Joan A. Brice of DeRidder, LA; sons, Jim Brice of DeRidder, LA & Ray Brice & wife LaDonna of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Sheryl Ann Brown & husband Gary of DeRidder, LA; brothers, Jeff Carter of Roland, AR, Conlan Carter of Branson, MO & John Carter of New York, NY; sister, Marvine Ellison of Sikeston, MO, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his father, Arvel Brice; stepfather, John Earl Carter and brother, Roger Carter

Emma (M) James DePaolo, 73, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital.
Emma is survived by her husband Joseph T. DePaolo of DeRidder, LA; sons, Jeffery A. DePaolo of Pearl River, LA and Martin Taylor & wife Melissa of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Jill A. DePaolo Fishkill, NY, Christine L. Casablanco & husband John of Fishkill, NY, Deidra Heiss & husband Ron of Barlow, OH, Denise Repo of Wappingers Falls, NY and Cheryl A. Toro of Tampa, FL; 1 brother, William T. James & wife Annabelle of Niceville, FL, 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Emma is also survived by her very special friends Ben and Dori Sipps of Springhill, FL.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin & Anna (Scheibley) James, brothers, Donald James & Edwin James and son, Gregg J. DePaolo.
Mrs. Emma was a very talented artist in her leisure time. She was also very involved in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts with her children. Mrs. Emma was active at one time in Civil Air Patrol rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. From 1986 to 2000 Mrs. Emma and Mr. Joseph were very active in the Swinging Squares Square Dance Club of Deridder, LA.
She was a loving wife and mother who will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the near future. Her body is being donated to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Breast Cancer Research in Memory of Mrs. Emma James DePaolo.

Fern is survived by two daughters, Peggy Peavy & husband Leslie of Rosepine, Louisiana and Betty Banks & husband Ronnie of DeRidder. She is also survived by one brother Arthur Temple of DeRidder, a sister Shirley T. Moss & husband “Dub” of DeRidder, 3 grandchildren, Liz Dronet & husband Ruben of Moss Bluff, David Peavy & wife, Stacie of DeRidder and Matthew Peavy of DeRidder and 3 great grandchildren, Joey Dronet and Katlyn & Kaylee Peavy.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Merchant, her parents, Matt & Aline Temple and two brothers, Matt Temple, Jr and Charles “Rusty” Temple.

Claude "C.R." McGehee June 18, 1930 - December 21, 2011
Claude “C.R.” McGehee, 81, of DeRidder passed from this life on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at his home.
C.R. served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from South Central Bell after 35 years of employment. After retiring from the phone company, he worked for 25 years as a deputy for the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s office. C.R. was a charter member of New Life Baptist Church in DeRidder. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge # 271 and was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
C.R. is survived by his wife of 56 years, Billie Jo McGehee of DeRidder. He is also survived by a son, Richard Lee McGehee and wife Faith of Walker, Louisiana and a daughter, Claudia West and husband Rick of DeRidder; a sister, Odessa Terry of Corpus Christi, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Erin McGehee of Walker, Louisiana, Jessica Comeaux of Walker, Louisiana, Amanda Gentry of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, Lana West of Tomball, Texas and Scot West of DeRidder and 8 great grandchildren, Madison, London, Emma, Laken, McKenzie, Landon, Lincoln and Damian.
C.R. was preceded in death by his parents, Clint & Lanie McGehee and his father & mother-in-law, Rob & Beulah Wagnon.

Melisa was a 2011 graduate of Merryville High School.

Delton Bailey, 84, of Pitkin, Louisiana passed from this life on December 10, 2011 Funeral services were held at Marlow Baptist Church in Pitkin, Louisiana on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10 O’clock A.M. The ministers were Reverend Hardy Estes and Reverend Joey Rudisill. Private Burial Services will be at a later date at Marlow Cemetery in Pitkin, Louisiana.
Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Erma Lea Bailey ; Sons, Wayne Bailey and wife Brenda ,
David Bailey and wife Julie ,Larry Bailey and wife Jeanell and Tony Bailey. He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Sanders and Nevia Bailey ; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, with two on the way.

Rev. Loyd Jeane, 75, of Evans, Louisiana passed from this life at 5:00 p.m., December 11, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles.
Bro. Loyd Jeane was the pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in DeRidder since 1970. He was one of few preachers that still upheld old time godly standards and he touched a lot of lives and prayed for many people throughout the years. He was not just a father to his two sons but he was the father of the church. He lost his daughter to cancer when she was three and half years old in 1970 and one can only imagine what a great reunion there was between them on Sunday evening. He always longed for the day he would reunite with his little Dottie. Please continue to pray for his family and church family. He will be dearly missed.
Rev. Jeane is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Lucille Jarrell Jeane of Evans, Louisiana and two sons, Donald Loyd Jeane also of Evans and Shane Jeane and wife Tanya of Knight Community, Louisiana. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Lakyn Jeane and Bryleigh Jeane and a Brother, Roger Jeane and Sister, Bea Egan. Rev. Jeane was preceded in death by: daughter, Dottie Jeane; his parents, Mace & Bertie Jeane; and a sister, Faye Jeane.

Jenifer was a 1991 graduate of DeRidder High School. She taught pre-school at First Baptist Church for 3 years. She was presented with the volunteer of the year award by the DeRidder Chamber of Commerce in 2009. Jenifer was an active member of Unity Baptist Church and was in involved in the Women’s Ministry.

Carol D. Whitt April 26, 1955 - December 1, 2011
Carol Denise Johnson Whitt, 56, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on December 1, 2011 at her home.
Carol was born April 26, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, to Catherine and Vernon Johnson. She was the fifth of eight children. Carol attended Beale Elementary School, before graduating in 1972 from Lindbloom High School. Shortly after graduating she moved to Columbus, Georgia with her sister Helen.
Carol had various jobs, including one in which she worked with disabled children. She went on to marry George J. Whitt, before joining the Army in 1980. While in the military, she served as a parts supply specialist. During her time of service, Carol achieved multiple commendations and awards. She was also able to travel,
seeing parts of America and Europe. She also participated in a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo and worked in Kuwait.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Marquee (Sharena) Johnson of DeRidder, Louisiana; grandson, D’Jon T. Hall of DeRidder, Louisiana; great grandson, D’Jon T. Hall Jr. She is also survived by her sisters, Cynthia Johnson, Eve Reynolds, Francine Blalock, Patrice Wilson, and brothers, Anthony Robinson and Vernon Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
